Doctor will need to triage the referral you have from your GP/Specialist first. This means Doctor will decide how soon you need to be seen, and what type of appointment(s) and / or tests you may require, often prior, to being seen by the doctor.
Please complete the following questionnaires if you have not previously done so - we will require them with your referral.
Please mail, drop in or email your referral to; admin@sleepmedicine.com.au. You may also fax, or have your GP surgery fax, your referral to 49478128. We will phone you back within a couple of days to make the triaged appointments.
Things to know about your appointment
A “NEW” (first) appointment is generally made for approximately 30 minutes time with the doctor. An appointment where we know the patient has sleep disorders other than sleep apnea may be for (40 minutes) for example with Narcolepsy or Insomnia (60 minutes).
Depending on what the REVIEW or RETURN (second and subsequent) appointment is for will determine its length and it is generally for half the time of the NEW appointment. This of course is dependent on each individual patient’s needs and is a guide only.
Wait times at the surgery – generally patients are seen within 30 minutes of arrival to the practice. It is a specialist surgery so there are times we do have a longer wait time and we will inform you of this in case you want to rebook or leave and return.
Appointment wait to get to the surgery – given we are a specialist practice there may sometimes be a wait of up to 2 to 3 months to see a specialist. All patients are triaged and if after you have completed a diagnostic test the result indicates that you need to be seen earlier, then you will be contacted to arrange an earlier appointment.
