Diagnostics Available at the Charlestown Clinic

Oximetry

A device worn like a watch with a peg like attachment that sits on your finger. You wear this overnight and it records how well oxygen is able flow in your bloodstream while you are sleeping. This is a basic screening test for obstructive sleep apnoea and is collected by appointment from the Charlestown clinic. Oximetry costs $90.

Actigraphy

A device like a watch that you will wear on your non-dominant hand for usually a week prior to seeing the doctor and / or having a sleep test. The watch cannot get wet. So you will need to remove it for showering or swimming. Actigraphy, with a sleep diary that you will be asked to keep, provides information about your sleep pattern and may be useful in a range of conditions. The actigraphy is collected by appointment from the Charlestown clinic.
Actigraphy costs $90.

Home Sleep Test

Requires that you spend approximately 30 minutes with one of our sleep scientists having the equipment applied and learning how to reapply it should you need to. You will also take home written information to use as a prompt to help you that evening at home. The test is bulk billed by Medicare but only one per year is funded in this way. It is possible to pay for a home test if you have already had a test charged to Medicare on your behalf in the previous
12 months.
The cost is $340.65
